Remodeling Your Kitchen 101: How To Tackle This Major Home Improvement Project (Part 3 - Flooring)

Welcome to part 3 of our blog series “Remodeling Your Kitchen 101: How To Tackle This Major Home Improvement Project.” This is the final blog of the series, so if you haven’t read part 1 or part 2, be sure to check it out.

In this blog, we are going to cover flooring when tackling a kitchen remodeling project.

When it comes to flooring, there are a ton of options. However, today's luxury vinyl flooring is a great option for kitchen floors. It provides a warmer and more comfortable surface than tile but is equal to tile in durability. Oh, and if you drop a glass you may have a chance it won't break, unlike a tile floor.

Vinyl flooring also allows you to achieve the look of porcelain tile using square or rectangular tiles spaced to receive grout. Don’t worry, the grout is premixed and non-porous so it will not stain. Or get a continuous look by tight joining the tiles.

Using the click lock wood grain vinyl flooring will provide a convincing look of real wood but with much greater durability and water resistance. Consider running wood grained vinyl flooring through the adjacent rooms to provide the feel of a larger space.

Oh, and the best part? The luxury vinyl flooring may be able to be installed directly over your existing floor saving the mess and cost of removing and installing new underlayment. It is one of the only floors that can be installed over particle board that will typically be found under the carpet.
