The Kitchen Remodel

Remodeling your home can be a big decision. Whether its bathroom design, home repair, or kitchen designs, you want to get it right. About 80% of home renovations include replacing major features such as flooring, countertops, showers, or sinks.

You might be remodeling your home because you intend to live in it for a long while and it needs a fresh new look. Or perhaps you are flipping a home and need a kitchen remodel to increase the home value. Regardless of what your reasons are, here are some of the best kitchen remodeling tips and trends for 2019.

Tips for Kitchen Remodels

Here are some of our favorite tips for kitchen remodels, especially when it comes to countertops (countertops are usually the central feature of your kitchen after all).

Work With Your Home: Don't try to remodel an old 30's Victorian style home into a modern industrial look. It will feel out of place with the rest of the house. Rather than fighting against the natural look of your home, work with it. Seek to combine elements of what you have with what you would like to create a beautiful look that is all your own. This is especially true for countertops. New marble countertops would look very odd in a log cabin type home.

Keep the Plumbing In Place: One of the most common complaints people have after remodeling a kitchen is that the plumbing doesn't work well anymore! Remember, that your kitchen plumbing is just a small section of the plumbing for the entire house. In addition to being very costly, moving water and gas lines to accommodate a kitchen remodel can end up costing you a ton of time, money, and headache in the long run. Do what you can to keep the plumbing in place.

Go all out on Hardware: When it comes to new hardware, go all out. Get the right knows and pulls that compliment the look of the entire home. It's these small parts and the attention to detail that really pulls the look of a room together. This is especially true for the kitchen. It may be time consuming, but it is relatively inexpensive and will make a huge difference for the final look.

Make Sure Appliances Match: This goes for both appliances matching with each other and matching the look of the kitchen. If it has been a long time since you have upgraded your kitchen appliances, there will be some considerable work to do here. Fridges, dishwashers, ranges, etc. They should all match well with each other and enhance the look of the kitchen. This will give your kitchen the superb designer look, especially if the appliances compliment the countertop.

Now that you are ready to remodel, let's look at some of the latest trends for kitchens in 2019

Latest Kitchen Trends

Quartz: Granite was nice, but quartz is definitely here to stay. Introduced as a high-end alternative, quartz is strong, durable, and looks fantastic. Granite looked nice while it lasted, however, it had a major flaw. Granite is porous. That means that liquids can seep into the surface and create stains and potentially allow bacteria to grow. So when it comes to countertop: granite is out, and quartz is in.

Veined Countertop: Uniform countertops are out. People now like seeing a countertop with a bit of character. Having a vein run unevenly through the countertop can add that extra splash to your kitchen that makes it unique.
